The joint exhibition “Kvinnor med färg” on Galleri 13 in Sundsvall had its gallery opening this weekend. The exhibition titel is “Women with colours” and all kinds of interpretations could be seen. The yearly exhibition is in conjunction with the international womensday.
My piece of art is called “Kärleks katten” (“The love cat”). Free interpretation on relation to the theme.
A friend of mine helped me with some final touches on the edges.
There were a lot of visitors this weekend but also some quiet time for reflection and art discussions.
I have been spending some time in the graphics studio at #SundsvallsKollektivverkstad Here are some works in progress. Please bare with me on the poor quality of the photos and stay tuned for the end results.
The piece “Window” needs something more. I’m not quite sure what it is yet. I have only printed one layer here.
The first layer of “blue sun”. I’m planning to make three layers on top
The plate is ready for the printmaking process with its second layer on top of the already printed motif. I hade only a few minutes to make the second layer before the paper went too dry.
Here you can see the result of two layers in my monotype. First the black and blue and second the pale shade of #davesgray
There was people coming and going throughout the day and I made some new connections and saw fellow artists I haven’t seen in a long time. It felt great being part of the local Arts Collective again after focusing on two other art projects for the past two years.
My painting is the red and black at the bottom. I saw several great pieces at the exhibition that I liked, both in Printmaking techniques and also some abstract paintings.
I am exhibiting this piece at Gallery 13 in Sundsvall, Sweden today. Keep a look out for it if you are at the exhibition. There are 40 or so other artists exhibiting today and one week forward. Hope I see you there! If not I will keep you posted on how it goes. Have a great weekend.
Here is the art review from the exhibition “Ung Vår Konst” in the newspaper ST. The pink painting you see with the planets are mine. There are 4 young artists in this exhibition and I have been in charge of planning and marketing this exhibition from the start. The review is in Swedish but further down below in this post you can find a translation of it.
“In conjunction with the Youth magazine’s Spring Festival also opens an art exhibition in the same place. Four young artists exhibit, all under 30 years, and if there can be said to be an underlying theme, it’s quite wide, the idea of a better world. Anna Isabella Sandberg is driven in action and idea.
The great “The Seven Sisters” is harboring thoughts of seven planets in different places in space, joined by the fact that they all are harboring life. They floats more than being sucked into vortices around a life-affirming and colorful sun, evocative and with ease. The heart that melts the symbolic hard walls are soft colors and pulsating light. Her drawings have a completely different style; This is a maze where she glances at street art forms, line language and detailed style.
Emmelie Berkö has just finished high school but demonstrates exciting color treatment, and the “Bleeding Love” feels as if she is on the road to its own design language also in people’s little blocky faces. Amanda Bergkvist I got stuck mostly on “I remember you”; the expressive color choice, the man bit jaded expression and the mystery of the painting that hangs behind him. In “It does not matter, the idea that the person is a transsexual, but the excitement is in my opinion the disproportionate arms, face introversion and the Raven Run as croaks social norms.
Lennie Karlsson has just participated in the joint work, a drawing that most seem to be based on spontaneity. Common to the other three is that they all seem to look into the possibilities of color, the draw for the strong expressions.” a translation of Susanne Holmlunds review on http://www.st.nu
Soon its a premier for the annual spring festival for everyone called “Vår Festival” (our/spring festival) in Sweden. I have been planning this together with the local commune and the cultural arts center, Kulturmagasinet, here in Sundsvall for a while now. I am the one who is in charge for the aesthetic aspects such as the art exhibition, designing the festival logo and the posters. I will also lead an abstract art workshop in the middle of the square in the cultural art center. We will finish the workshop with a collaborative painting. The exhibition will be from 9th of May to the 22nd of May. We are 4 young artists that are exhibiting and next year there will be a lot more young artists joining us. It is a big honor being part of something new in the local community that hopefully will be lasting for many years to come.
The festival is mostly for the young scene but it is open for everyone and it is also customized for disability. We will even have a interpreter for the hearing disabled.
The artists on this exhibition are: Anna Isabella Sandberg, Lennie Karlsson, Amanda Bergkvist & Emmelie Berkö
Here is my latest black and white sketch. It’s about anger. I’m trying to sketch different feelings while I’m right in the middle of them and I must say the style vary quite alot even though I start from my core artistic language.
